It’s no surprise to many Pirates fans what has happened in the last few weeks and in particular, yesterday afternoon. The Pittsburgh Pirates traded away two outfielders and one pitcher in less than two days. The Bucs dealt their starting left fielder Nyjer Morgan and reliever Sean Burnett to the Washington Nationals for outfielder Lastings Milledge and reliever Joel Hanrahan. Milledge began the year as Washington’s starting centerfielder but was soon demoted to AAA. Hanrahan was the closer at the start of the season for the Nats but after a horrific start, lost that job. Meanwhile, the Pirates got another great pitching performance and this time, gave Ross Ohlendorf some run support in a 3-0 win over the Cubs. Ohlendorf gave up only four hits over seven innings and Freddy Sanchez went two-for-three with two RBIs in the win. Brandon Moss went two-for-four with an RBI as well. Matt Capps picked up his 18th save of the season. The Pirates and Cubs play the third and final game tonight at 7:05 at PNC Park with the pre-game show beginning at 6:40 on WISR 680AM.
