The Pittsburgh Penguins and General Manager Ray Shero have a number of open roster spots and a need to fill those spots as Free Agency begins this afternoon at 12 p.m. The Penguins are unsure whether or not they will be able to re-sign a number of free agents including Rob Scuderi and Ruslan Fedotenko. The Penguins will be watching the salary cap and how much money they have to spend on free agents. The NHL isn’t the only league with free agency beginning in the near future, the NBA starting its shopping season at midnight last night. In other NHL news, the New York Rangers sent centerman Scott Gomez to the Montreal Canadians in a six-player deal.
