More details are coming to light in the latest sexual assault case involving Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback told the owner of a sushi restaurant near his Georgia mansion in Reynolds Plantation the night before the alleged assault that he was going to drive to Milledgeville. Less than six hours after that happened, his 20-year-old accuser went to police telling her she had been sexually assaulted. The owner of the restaurant and the manager of Harrah's Hotel and Casino in Lake Tahoe, the site of his first alleged assault, are friends with Roethlisberger, but service employees at both establishments paint a different picture of Number 7, though none of them would speak with the media. In Pittsburgh Pirates spring-training action, the Bucs lost to the Boston Red Sox in a 3-2 squeaker in Fort Myers, Florida. Paul Maholm went three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out three. The Pirates host the World Series champion New York Yankees this afternoon at Bradenton. Charlie Morton will get the start against CC Sabathia. Vinnie Chulk, initially supposed to pitch on Friday, will throw, as well. In the NHL, it's the Tampa Bay Lightning that will play host to the Pittsburgh Penguins this afternoon beginning at 5pm. The Pens have won three of their last five games. You can hear all the action on AM 680 WISR. In local college basketball action, it was a great night Saturday for IUP. The Crimson Hawks' scored a 71-67 victory over Fairmont State in an NCAA Tournament Division II first-round Atlantic Region men's basketball game. IUP (29-2) will play No. 12 West Virginia State in the regional semifinals tonight at Memorial Field House. As for Pitt, the Panthers, who were booted with a 50-45 quarterfinal loss to No. 7 seed Notre Dame Thursday night at Madison Square Garden, will learn its NCAA Tournament fate when the 65-team bracket is unveiled tonight at 6pm on CBS. The Number 2 seed in the Big East remains certain to receive an at-large berth and reach the NCAA Tournament for the ninth year in a row.
