Butler Golden Tornado wrestler Cole Baxter will compete in the PIAA championships beginning Thursday (March 11) in Hershey. Baxter is the Southwest region number two seed and will wrestle the Northeast region number two seed Josh Popple from Coughlin high school. Baxter was the runner-up in last weekend's WPIAL championships in the 171 pound division. He is currently 36-1 this season. Popple is 33-5. Both are high school juniors. Grove City wrestler Wes Phipps, a sophomore, is the Northwest region's number two seed. Phipps is 33-2 this season, and will face the Southeast region number two seed.
