In the NHL, Sidney Crosby had two goals and the Pittsburgh Penguins scored the final five goals in a 6-3 victory over the Dallas Stars on Saturday for their third consecutive win since Olympic break ended. Pittsburgh improved to 39-22-4 on the season with a 20-10-3 mark at Mellon Arena. The Penguins are three points ahead of New Jersey for the Atlantic Division lead. The Pens play host to the Boston Bruins this afternoon. Face-off is at 3pm on AM 680 WISR. In major league baseball, Ryan Church hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Andrew McCutchen went 2-for-2 with a steal and a run scored as the Pittsburgh Pirates tied the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-3, in 10 innings on Saturday. Pittsburgh plays host to the Twins at McKechnie Field today with first pitch scheduled for 1:05pm. Ross Ohlendorf will make the start for the Pirates. He will throw the first two innings, after having pitched just one frame in his Grapefruit League debut. Virgil Vasquez is also expected to make an appearance, which will be his first since surrendering a three-run, walk-off homer to the Yankees on Wednesday. In the NFL, police say they probably won't have anything new to say until tomorrow concerning the latest sexual assault accusations against Pittsburgh Steelers star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Charges still have yet to be filed against Roethlisberger, just several months after allegations surfaced of him assaulting a hotel worker at a casino Harrah's Hotel and Casino in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. No charges have been filed in that incident. Roethlisberger is accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old coed at Georgia College and State University early Friday morning after a night of partying in the college town of Milledgeville, about 80 miles southeast of Atlanta. Today in auto racing, Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be on the pole for the first time in nearly two years today for NASCAR's Sprint Cup Kobalt Tools 500 race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, giving the popular, second-generation driver another reason to believe that he's left behind the most dismal season of his career. Kyle Busch will start from the outside of the front row, beating out Juan Pablo Montoya and Mark Martin. Jeff Gordon was fifth, giving Hendrick Motorsports three of the top five spots. You can hear all the action from Atlanta coming up after the noon news on AM 1050 WBUT.
