The New Orleans Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 to win the Super Bowl in their first appearance. Saints quarterback Drew Brees was named game MVP after tying Tom Brady's Super Bowl record of 32 completions in a title game. Brees was 32-of-39 for 288 yards and two touchdowns. The game featured the Saints recovering an on-side kick, converting a two-point play, and returning a Peyton Manning interception for a touchdown. New Orleans also tied another Super Bowl record in coming back from an early 10-0 deficit.
