Super Bowl Weekend Begins Print E-mail

It’s the beginning of Super Bowl weekend in Miami, Florid and this Sunday, the Indianapolis Colts will take the field against the New Orleans Saints at 6:25 to determine who’s the best team in the football.  Colts all-pro defensive end Dwight Freeney hasn’t practiced all week but is expected to play in the game on Sunday.  In other NFL news, the Pittsburgh Steelers are interested in applying the franchise tag to Casey Hampton to keep him around another year.  If the Steelers want to put the franchise tag on their all-pro nose tackle him from becoming a free agent next month, the one-year salary required to pay Hampton would be $7 million, according to figures released Thursday by the NFL Players Association. That amount represents the average of the top-five salaries of defensive tackles in the NFL. Free agency begins with the league's new calendar year March 5.
